"Your desire is strong but your body cannot!"

It just doesn't make sense, players cannot be made...

No matter how big your heart is and you're only 5'3" , going to the PBA or NBA is highly improbable...
Let me add something to my previous post.

Have you imagined the Utah Jazz without John Stockton? Phoenix without Steve Nash? New Jersey without Jason Kidd? These teams won't work. Basketball is not just all about height. And even in the NBA's early stages where giants like George Mikan dominated, there's still a little guy named Bob Cousy who stood out. Gone are the days where "height is might." People nowadays are no longer intimidated by tall players. Yao swatted by Nate Robinson? Kobe posterizing Yao? Tracy McGrady leaping over Shawn Bradley? As Bob Cousy himself said, "Games today are not the kind of games we play half a century before, it's now played above the rim." Players now are more athletic and artistic compared to those before. They learned it from the past.

My point? It's all about IQ, fundamentals, skills, experience and heart.

Yeah, these guys are small but successful, but they're also one in a million... And they got this far not because they are made. But because they were born extremely talented and with great athleticism...

oh.. they are made alright.. there are a lot of basketball players who have talents (both NBA and in the PBA) but, mag unsa man pud ang talent lang if not coupled w/ dedication and hard work and people to push them to their extreme limits...

All im saying is that, you CANT justify a basketball player to be great alone by meriting his talents and athleticisms only.. they have others, peoples who put them there and where they are right now.. (PR/talent agents, managers, coaches, waterboys etc..) If these great basketball players were not discovered by these persons... I doubt their going to be famous and enjoy the fruits and the luxuries of what they have right now..(cars, villas or mansions, cash and etc.)

These 'background' men and women have honed up their skills and have attributed a lot to becoming this players as famous and as "the greatest basketball players they are and ever be"... simply put it.. they have 'made' this players famous and greatest in their respective fields...so it is only rightful that this players should give due respect (where respect is due) and gratitude to those people who have trained/promoted/endorsed them in as such a way that they are now recognized, famous and admired all the world over.

For one, basketball is not a talent, but a skill. It comes after constant and proper practice and training. The phrase "It's in the genes" doesn't work here. What the genes could give is height and the right body structure to be a ball player. But shooting accuracy, ball handling and shot blocking comes through practice, leaping ability and agility comes through training and court vision and proper decision making is developed through experience.

That's the reason why basketball programs exist so as to further improve our basketball skills.

Yeah, these guys are small but successful, but they're also one in a million
All NBA players are one in a million, not just these little guys. Imagine how many people are really into basketball and only how many made it to the NBA? The ones who made it are the cut above the rest. It's not because they're tailor made to be in the NBA, but it's their dedication to make it that far. Gilbert Arenas and Ben Wallace would be enough for an example.
