sounds like friendster/myspace/orkut/geocities and multiply rolled into one... and facebook killed them all... even google failed twice so thus yahoo also.. and now google are trying their luck on google+...

first some question to wonder upon (based from my workshop in manila) -

1) Who will USE your product?
2) Where will you SELL your product? (note: selling doesnt mean monetary sometimes it refers to Marketing)
3) What is the feature of your product your competitor dont have?
4) Why would i use it?

as a startup co founder myself i suggest you look for another idea that can be implemented LEAN and PRACTICAL...

How did this project fare? Just wondering.

a different social networking site specific to a certain country lang like weibo sa china or sa japan(kalimot ko sa name but they have their own social network) only works because of one thing, Those country was a CLosed country before they open it just a decade ago. It means na, everything from local products to websites are localized or in thier own dialects, secondly most of thier population CANNOT speak english and prefer their own brand compare to US made products (well with the exception of KFC and Mcdonald brands ofcourse).

Its a culture that works for them.
but in Philippines, we are more influence by the culture in US, we speak english, we watch American movies, we listen to their songs, we know thier actors, etc.
so my point is, a social networking for Philippines only? it will not work. wala man gani nisikat or naka gather ug attention ang Google+ which has features unique to facebook and freakin made by Google!

I have another idea, its not a social networking site but it has the "social" aspects into it "old school" pero im not a web developer, i make games so ngita ko ug web developer na motira ani.
