Fuel injection is driven and controlled by mechanical (GM)or electrical(Bosch), via points, means.

EFI is used in newer cars/bikes and is controlled electronically via the electronic ignition module (Brain)

Fuel injection will not adjust to different fuel and conditions that a EFI will.

Mechanical FI came out in the 20s, Electric FI came out in the 40s predating by tears not only silicon chips but the transistor as well. EFI was first used on general autos in the mid 70s, but was already common in aircraft.
