Well, it is usable in bright light. sharpness is also ok from 70-250mm, a little soft at 300mm. This lens has no VR so it needs a good light to perform well. Slow autofocus which is not good for sports photography. Completely useless indoors. If you are considering on buying this type of lens (70-300 4-5.6), i recommend the nikkor 70-300 vr or the tamron 70-300 VC.
