Melinda May - An agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who is an ace pilot and weapons expert.
Skye - A civilian new recruit and computer hacker, described as "bubbly and goofy" but "also warm, edgy and witty." She is in her late 20s and can more than hold her own in any situation.
Leo Fitz - An agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who specializes in weapons technology.
Grant Ward - A gruff, asocial manly man in his early 30s who is great at his job but not so great at getting along with his coworkers. Ward has a strong moral foundation and is not without his charm.
Jemma Simmons - An agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who specializes in life sciences (both human and alien) and is the close partner of Agent Leo Fitz.
Coulson lives!
Having watched Joss Whedon's shows--Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dollhouse and Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog--in the past, maybe one these characters is going to die soon or at least before season 1 ends. Except maybe for Agent Coulson since Whedon apparently killed him off in Avengers and now he's alive and Whedon rarely revives his characters.
