marketing. they want people to switch to vista. vista is a crippled OS. looked like it has been heavily influenced by the movie and music industry. DRM restrictions is a lot of overhead. read about the horrors of having top of the line hardware not working as it should because vista refuses to work with unsecured mediums. SPDIF is disabled coz it is unsecured, could not play HD because video card DVI is unsecure etc. not to mention installation problems. With XP you can do a clean install directly even using an upgrade disk. with Vista you need to install XP first, activate it, then can you update it. remember when xp arrives our shore, we comment about its heavy requirement. same things happen here also, things happen here the same ways last past years.
