People only remember about the things that they need whenever they already need it the most. Such is the case of a father of 6 who now is just waiting for his time at a hospital. No life insurance but has many investments in real estate. 5 years ago, a friend approached him to offer life insurance, but it was the wife who declined the offer saying, "naa naman siya life insurance." And now, i learned that there was no insurance whatsoever to speak of. Come to think of it, if his real estate property alone would be worth about P30 M, BIR would be getting P6 M of that for estate tax. The wife was panicky, gathering all the lot titles, she called a lawyer and asked if the properties can immediately be transferred to their children's names. And i need not say any further. Had they realized the value of insurance, the proceeds of it could be used to pay the estate tax whenever the estate owner passes away thus preserving what could be a worry-free legacy born out of love and preparedness.
