No we don't understand each other as Filipinos, so there has to be changes, but most of these have to come from within each of us.

The good thing is, all change, even very large and powerful change, begins when a few people start talking with one another about something they care about. I believe this thread is a start, no matter how small and simple.

If we do care about 'us' as Filipinos, let's continue sharing our opinions but let respect for these opinions prevail over emotions. Each of us will always have our biases. Let our arguments be highlighted with these biases, but let us also learn to be more discerning and accept criticisms constructively. With understanding, we can reassess our positions and perhaps learn to agree. In the end, we can still disagree without being disagreeable.

The proud man, then, is the man we have described. For he who is worthy of little and thinks himself worthy of little is temperate, but not proud; for pride implies greatness, as beauty implies a goodsized body, and little people may be neat and well-proportioned but cannot be beautiful." He concludes then that, "Pride, then, seems to be a sort of crown of the virtues; for it makes them more powerful, and it is not found without them. Therefore it is hard to be truly proud; for it is impossible without nobility and goodness of character."

    ..Right?

Wrong. You are quoting Aristotle who is distinguishing a proud man who thinks he is virtuous, but is truly not. This is outside of the context with which the TS declares that the common problem with us Filipinos is understanding each other. And what is so terrible about the TS's question 'what do you think guys?'

Your post only highlights this misunderstanding. For how can the TS's premise be compared to animals who fight or insects who protect their territory? (They are incapable of being rational thinkers, while we are.) Perhaps with the TS's reply above, you can give a more enlightened opinion.
