Hahaha! Two Gabriel Garcia Marquez on the list!
I'm actually reading The Autum of the Patriarch - nosebleed jud. 1 paragraph is the whole chapter. No conversations. Now I found an author more challenging than Ernest Hemingway.

I don't exactly "not recommend" his books but yes, they're pretty hard. It would really help if we check cliffnotes or sparknotes for some overviews and understand motiffs before reading one of his pieces. It's an intelligent book but would really stress you out. Who wants to read to get stressed out?

i recommend this book for Americans who like politically funny jokes and humor commentaries.

if you're a Filipino, you will love this book until you get to Chapter 12, where the author jokingly talks about "ordering Filipinas (wife) over the internet like a customer ordering iPods or discontinued comforter".

ah.. that's why you added this to the "unrecommended"
indeed, that's offensive. But actually it's also a reality. We cannot condemn the Filipinas who are "ordered" (as how the racist author puts it) on line because it's their way of getting saved from poverty. In fact, they get to save their whole family from poverty - that's the mentality. It's sad.

So ok, I will add this on my list of "unrecommended books" as well.

yup. that's exactly the reason why i included this book in the "unrecommended books" list.

it's funny and at the same time offensive. it's on the reader's preference and understanding on how he/she would take what he/she reads.

    it's a sad reality indeed.

another thing "The Dark Side of Islam".. what the heck, why write a book about your negative opinions on a religion with 1.9 billion followers?

There is such thing as freedom of speech as there is such as thing as ethics.
I wouldn't write a book about the dark side of catholicism. may be blog about it. but not publish a material. the heck.
    true.

Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer the last of the Twilight series.

The other books are fairly tolerable at best but this one just feels like a very long, drawn-out fan fiction. Hell, there are Twilight fan fictions out there better written than this one.
