if it's trending, you're a bit late. dont go for the trend. Either go before the trend or go for stable choices (C, C++, Java, Perl, and SQL). Anyway, if you know one of them and you're a good programmer, it's very easy to learn new one because it should be the same learning and development process.

You should learn about CSS 5, HTML 5, AJAX (and its many front-ends), open source database and "cool" languages like Python, Ruby and PHP.

Then you can proceed to the serious platforms like J2EE, .Net, etc. There's a job out there for all kinds of IT but you have to choose your niche and be willing to learn new stuff. What's cool today could be dead by tomorrow so fast adaptation is key. However, certain concepts in programming stay the same for a long time (Object orientation, versioning, ORM)...

i tried assembly ...shet! ...makabuang..padagan-daganon ang HELLO WORD sa screen, it takes a lot of codes pero pag sa HTML <marquee></marquee> ra tawon,.paita!...

nawala ang mainframe ug AS400 courses diri sa pinas kay around mid 90's nigawas na ang mga 4GL.

however, mas stable ang AS400/MF kay for purely pang business/security (imagine huge data from a multi-national company's) man gud ang design sa hardware ug language.

company like NASA, pentagon, insurance company, banks alone around the world ang usually nigamit aning mga machine.. fyi, data (around 70% man siguro) available sa internet are stored in mainframe today.

last batch sa cobol400 programmer graduates diri cebu city was from year 2000 man siguro @UC. and yes, rare breed na kaau ang mga programmers ani nila busa dagko kaau salary ug very in-demand bisan karon.
