If you're talking to me I have two siblings in the military. One is a captain in the Army, the other is a weapons designer. I also have a brother-in-law who is a military lawyer. I'm not going to presume to know how to train a soldier, but common-sense should tell you that torturing your own people is demoralizing, serves no practical purpose and encourages sadistic tendencies. Just because evil exists in the world does not mean that we too should be evil. Lead by example and do not create an atmosphere which may lead those in uniform to one day commit atrocities. The military who stood idly by or even participated in the murder of Christian civilians in Indonesian were trained by somebody and that person was ultimately complicit in those horrors because they had helped create ill-disciplined monsters.

^ Well if our country is stupid enough to kill soldiers even before a war has started I'd really like to see what will happen in a real war. Even a small country lang like Malaysia... Malaysia vs Philippines, I wonder how long our retardate military will last.

Better to welcome the invaders if the people ruling us are idiots. What I cannot stand.. Idiots. Like our imbecile generals.

Even the AFP admitted that it was ultimately wrong, no matter how sound the theory was when it was implemented. One doesn't need to "undergo" the same things to see common sense and objectivity. Perhaps that's what they need though, training in common sense.

Oh and by the way, I may be an "armchair" general, metaphorically speaking, but there are literal armchair generals in our army who're only destroying the reputation and all the hard work done by others to strenghten our army. That's what happens when politics interfere too much with what is supposedly an apolitical organization.

Agree!.. No matter how you train your soldier or even torture them to the extend to make them strong.. In our modern world today, dako kau og factor ang technology especially weapons. Outdated weapons, jet fighters, tanks are useless... Agree jud ko ani na statement i bet dli abtan og 1day hurot atong mga soldiers bisan Malaysia lang..
NO DOUBT about that coz we're living in the third world country using 2nd world war weapons because of our great generals and hypocrite politicians.. e add pud ang media diay!...
