Here's a little something I wrote in my blog, I'll share it here...

Fate might dictate that the much looked forward to fight between Marco Antonio Barrera and Manny Pacquiao will NEVER take place, unless you're looking to the distant future at a match between two aging former champions looking to make a comeback.

After the dust has settled, and likely because of Manny's having signed two separate contracts with Golden Boy and Top Rank, Barrera will instead be defending his crown against Juan Manuel Marquez. Yes, the same Marquez that Manny failed to keep on the floor.

We all saw how Marquez came back from a knockdown to fight back and claim a draw. Only the most biased of his countrymen could not accept the fact that Manny often seemed outclassed by the Mexican in the later rounds, early knockdown notwithstanding.

Now it's Marquez that Barrera will face, and guess what, Marquez is heavily favored to win.

If you're a boxer, having an opponent recover from an early knockdown then come back to nearly beat you is like having an archenemy come back from the grave. My question is, did that instill a deep seated fear for Juan in Manny? Is this the real reason Manny decided to run for public office? To have a ready excuse for a loss against Marquez, or to opt out of a match completely?

If so, then our national hero might not be as great as he seems......
