nindot ang gadget sir, without a doubt.

ang problem lang is ang ilang style sa pag-implement and marketing style nila

ako lang e-quote balik ang conversation sa usa ka customer ug representative nila,

Again my question which was not answered though it was first in this post… After 3 years of P500/month, would I actually own the unit already or is it just considered as an additional deposit for a PLDT owned equipment (just like our exis…ting phones). If defective AFTER 3 years, will you replace it?
I just wanted to clarify as I was told that it would still be PLDT owned after 3 years.
    PLDT Telpad
@Chito – Sorry for the delay.
PLDT owns the Telpad unit even after the lock-in period.
PLDT provides a product warranty for the Telpad unit for 3 years.

    Thanks!

Follow up question… If PLDT OWNS the Telpad unit AFTER 3 years, what happens if it does not work anymore AFTER 3 years? If we decide to return it after 3 years, do we get our money back since you still own it? Since ownership is NEVER transferred to us despite our payment, what is the Php 500/month for?
    PLDT Telpad
@Chito – If you cancel the Telpad service after the lock-in period, you are still required to return the Telpad unit to PLDT.
The P500/month covers the .5mbps speed upgrade. There will be no refund for the P500/month after the lock-in period. If you do not cancel your Telpad subscription, you will still get charged the rate you were charged when you were still in the lock-in period. If you cancel, simply choose another DSL plan or continue with your Telpad subscription.
If the unit is defective after 3 years, PLDT reserves the right to charge you since it is no longer covered by the warranty.
    Hope this helps. Thanks!

Hmmm… what about the battery after 3 years and the “usual” wear and tear of the gadget? Will you replace them? We all know that electronic gadgets have a “limited” life… The unit will be bound to be defective after that “life” and if you technically own it, what would be our protection in the future? It would be unfair to charge us for something that is bound to conk out just like any electronic gadget.
(No answer yet as of this posting)
    *3 years lock-in period
    * after 3years, sa pldt gihapon ang product "PLDT owns the Telpad unit even after the lock-in period."
    * warranty is only good for 3 years, after that "PLDT reserves the right to charge you since it is no longer covered by the warranty."
*if you cancel the telpad service, "you are still required to return the Telpad unit to PLDT."

pero nindot jud ang unit if you compare it sa katong apad/epad ++ naa pa jud warranty.

kamo nalay bahala mag-balance ani hehehe

we will only be paying for the service and not the unit....

dili ni parehas ug cellphone nga after sa two year lock in period, tagaan napud ka lain unit?

@SmaRkieS, murag dili ni +500 sa naay Plan 990 kay the article says the additional 500 daw is for the additional .5Mb and since the lowest plan is 1.5Mb, this is obviously for those that have 1Mb already, which is like 1,300 php? So, you'll still end up paying 1,800 monthly.

IMO, unless you really need to upgrade your internet connection (which is the main point of that package), you're better off buying your own tablet, there's so many in the market already and come CES 2011 on January, more will come pa. More products, the cheaper they'll become. And as softouch said, if it's not made in China, it would be cool... but seeing as how PLDT is pricing this, there's a big chance it's just one of China's OEM products with probably a little better QA.

Plus, buying your own unit gives you the chance to pick the features you want in a tablet. If paying cash is an issue, wait nalang until computer shops sell these things and like the laptop, offer them at 0% interest.

Here's a good list for android tablets, you'll find that there's new brands/models on a weekly basis, just like cellphones are today.

    Android | Geeky Gadgets

Take the Archos 70 for example, you can get it in HK for 12,000 php and unlike that PLDT unit, Archos 70 has a capacitive screen, runs 720p video, has wireless N and next month, it will come with a whooping 250GB internal memory for the same price!

However, this comes as a good news to those who were already planning to upgrade to 1.5Mb even before this product came. At least, now you get a freebie

is it a good start for "video calling" locally?

if mao japon ang connection nga crappy sa laing place then its not worth for them

hmmmmmm no need to rush nalang, if 1980's technology is x10 speed on innovation, pero karon x50 na ang innovation ingon ana ka pas pas ang technology nato, sa una bitaw ang touch screen phones mo abot ug 20~30k then china phone came out tag 7k ang first release, then karon tag 2k nalang with TV, dual sim, dual standby, etc.

Then iPad ni gawas 25k, then following china iPad Droid Clones tag 4k~7k, and sooner iPad clones tag 2k nalang? hahahahah. What's next? dali ra kaayo ang adlaw, dali ra kaayo ang tuig, I can wait for more technology and innovations to come, kung mabuhi pako ning kalibutana.
