i don't understand why they have to wait for long hours and wait till the hostage taker becomes agitated and violent. if our govt. wants to make a statement that we don't tolerate such actions and just to give an example to those who would try to do the same, first clear view of the hostage taker BANG!! headshot dayon. later na lang ng human rights thingy. if you're a hostage, time is longer than anywhere else and trauma is something that can't be treated by medicines. Life wouldn't be the same anymore once you experience this kind of violence.

MANILA, Philippines—A policeman and a suspect were killed after grappling with a hand grenade late Wednesday night in Bukidnon province, a police official said on Thursday.

Chief Superintendent Danilo Empedrad, Northern Mindanao police chief, said a van was parked in front of the Baungon town police station at 11:30 p.m. when its driver, Ramjude Marban, asked the police for help.

Marban said a certain Renato Babua was holding a hand grenade and threatening the other passengers.

Immediately, Police Officer 2 Leo Nalitan ordered the other passengers to alight and asked the suspect to surrender.

But when the Babua refused to surrender, Nalitan grappled with him for the grenade, which later exploded, killing both Nalitan and Babua.

Other passengers of the van were unhurt, Empedrad said.
