if you are a traditional pick holder and had your first try playing like this, you would notice how weak your other fingers are..by then you know what to correct in your playing.. ..classical and finger style guitarist and chickn pickers(some use a thumb pick, a traditional pick or their thumb)..but the use of it is not limited in those genres..
you can start of by doing one note on two spaced out strings...from top to bottom and vice versa, from inwards to outwards..well it wont be musical to start with(same thing with some runs)..as it will be mechanical at first but after all your building dexterity with your picking fingers
me loving the hybrid picking, one of the techniques a guitar player should know (a must IMO).
