Killer held grudge against teacher?
CEBU, Philippines - The police in Minglanilla town suspect that the killer of a teacher of Tubod Elementary School in Minglanilla town might have held a grudge against him.
Police also believe that Serafino Villahermosa was the sole target of the gunman and that the teacher's companion, Roger Maunis, was hit by the stray bullets.
Initial investigation of the police revealed that Serafino Villahermosa, who is a resident of Gorordo, Cebu City, had a brother who was shot in barangay Lahug, Cebu City several months ago, which now led the police to scrutinize angle that the victim's family could be at odds with his brother's killer.
SPO1 Romeo Barde, desk officer of Minglanilla Police Station, said that Villahermosa sustained "multiple gunshot wounds" in the different parts of the body, compared to Maunis, who got one on his left arm.
At 5:20 p.m. last Monday, Villahermosa, 36, and his fellow teacher Maunis, 41, were on their way out of the school campus when the passenger of a motorcycle suddenly rained bullets on them.
And while Maunis survived the attack, Villahermosa was declared dead on arrival at the South General Hospital in Naga City.
Barde said the police are now coordinating with the family of Villahermosa for the solution of the case.
