yes, you are right. PHP is a scripting language in the sense that PHP is interpreted running on some kind of Virtual Machine or Interpreter. And programming language in the sense that PHP can do programming tasks.

for VI editor. mga bai di man ta ka recommend VI kay VI is only in UNIX or UNIX-like OS. maybe gigamit ani nya kay windows. even though naay VI ang windows but it s.....

I haven't used vi yet, but VIM is avaiable for a lot of systems:
    • Unix
    • PC: MS-DOS and MS-Windows
    • Amiga
    • OS/2
    • Macintosh
    • QNX
    • Agenda
    • Sharp Zaurus
    • HP Jornada
    • MS-Windows CE
    • Compaq Tru64 Unix on Alpha
    • Cygwin (console)
    • Cygwin (with GTK GUI)
    • Open VMS
    • RISC OS
    • MorphOS

As for the "it sucks" comment, to each his own.

choice of editor has been the subject of debates for decades in the programming world but yes as doomsweek simply puts it, to each his own

anyway, anyone who has used vi and understands how it works will never call it "shitty" or say it "sucks". if you are someone who have not used it or used it but didn't take time to understand how it works and gave up frustrated, it's best to reserve judgement.

the nice thing about knowing about vi is that lots of (web) application deployments are on unix/linux systems. when you have the need to quickly modify something, a config file or even (interpreted/script) code, knowing vi will come in handy. specially if you're on a not so fast ssh connection to a remote server. of course there's also pico/nano for those who "dislike" vi

    @doomsweek
vim is vi. it's an IMproved version of it.

in most unices nowadays, vim is the one installed. if one executes "vi" on the terminal (which is what i always do) vim gets loaded. mostly because vi is just a symbolic link to vim. this is true even on osx.

i was not implying that the vi is "shitty" or "sucks" mogamit ko perme sa vi(vim gamit nko, link ra man ang vi to vim) but maybe when i used vi in win at that time na disappoint ko paghandle sa inputs(?). maybe ang CLI sa win ang .. or something else not the vi itself. anyways, i rarely used win anymore basin na-improve na ni pero kong mogamit ko win either VS or an IDE man akong gamiton dili ko sa command mo code.

    enough for that.

I want to know kung na-unsa na ang thread starter ani..? need help pa reyarita?

By "I haven't used vi yet" I was referring to the old vi. The one which doesn't have the improvements of VIM.
