yah good question. at least familiar ka sa basics. naka start ka point and shoot or what?

otherwise basin ma pareha raka sa uban, ang camera ra ang nindot ug mahalon then PP ra ghapon padung

im not sure kung dako ba jud ug difference since im not familiar with the prices of pentax and olympus, pero since you've mentioned that your budget is around 500k, dako na kaau na nga kwarta nga investment aning bisyoha! hehe. Go for Nikon or Canon nlng jud. Or NIKON nlang jud para way mahay. hahaha.. ;P

    @TS

basta ayaw padala sa thought nga mahal gani nindot na
and also about the bangwagon mentality kung asa ang daghan naa adto pud ka or getting involved
at what they call camera brand wars betweeb 2 famous brands
daghan na kaayo diri ui mahal or sikat ang camera brand or model but if u look at their pics u cant
actually tell if its shot by an expensive cam...believe me as in naay daghan ingon ana.hahah
dont get carried by the though of because u have the luxury of having extra moolah your
gonna have to go for the expensive brands

and if your more concerned of getting good shots rather than sling ur expensive camera for all to
see esp in camera clubs then think wisely.
ayaw pa dala diri sa camera club culture mentality diri sa cebu like most photojournalist friends told me about whats happening here

if i were on your shoes, i shall buy the flagships since i have the money. low to mid ranged models can make an "AAAAH! OOOOH!" photos, very yes, although high models can make as well but with ease. the dynamic range of the high models is what you are paying for.

one does not need to be pro or expert to get the high models. choosing the flagships gives your learning curve WIDER. you will find salient things that are not present in the lower models.

believe me, youll crave more if youll buy the lower models. unless youre like me nga kutub ra gyud og baratohon kay pobreng uyamot^^ basin maka ingon unya ka pohon, "maayo pa nipalit nalang ko derecho adto dah nga naa man unta ko saktong budget, tsk tsk tsk"^^

i remember when i was a table tennis athlete and my parents bought me an initial racket worth 4k(since it was what they can afford). it felt really impressive using it and improved my skills well(out from using a less than 1k racket at first^^). but when the government gave support to me & to my colleagues in which we were supplied with a higher model of table-tennis racket which was costs 10k, my play were even easier, faster, and the development of my skills raptured up. anyway, this is only a real life experience which may give you an idea as well.

wala man kaha kay gamiton lain sa imong budget, and that budget is solely for that purpose, so go buy the highest model you can afford.

pero if dili gihapon ka moto-o sa akong pagkadako og tiyan^^ nah, hala, palit nalang ubos2x sa kung unsay imong maganahan...then shoot8x all the way..... then let see......hehehe, bitaw jokjok rani sir, basin seryosohon nimo maayo nagkat-on pa bya pod ko og photography^^

Olympus, nindot ug sensor and lenses, mas barato pa gyud than Pentax. Pentax have excellent and expensive lenses but not a good choice of battery. Nindot ang camera body sa Pentax, wala gyud ka gi tihik sa features but not practical to buy than the Olympus in terms of value. Lighter ang body sa dslr ug ang lenses sa Olympus with the four-third system. For as long mo fit sa targeted use (either portraiture, landscape, sports, wildlife, etc.), get the system that will fit your need and make the most value for your money. Just because you have a lot of money for a camera system, it is still important to get the best value that will fit your desired style of photography. In the end, it is not the camera that matters most, it is the photographer with a trained eye to see photographically.
