    @ SioDenz

Yes the government . Did you know that Cebu offered courses sa Nutrition and Dietetics since th 70's pa ? 3 schools offered it , SWU , USP and USC .... karon USC na lang nahabilin because of underpopulated department unlike pag 70's and 80's na very in demand siya well promoted because one of Marcos' priorities also was to promote wellness , health and nutrition to the Filipino people . After Marcos' time , nawala ug murag buwa ang degree but still struggled to survive untill the mid to late 2000's when younger generations started to embrace the lifestyle of healthy living na gi consider nila also by studying and learning it . Bachelor of Science in NUtrition and DIetetics is way , way cheaper than HRM in USC and maybe to some other degrees available offered na 4 year courses sa USC .

    @VIENZEL

Naa ko sa Cebu karon since 2007 . Nawala ra ko sa Pilipinas ug 15 years and I came back here to study . . Currently I am enrolled sa degree na Nutrition and Dietetics thats why I know and I am specifics to the postings I made . I know how government works , I know how the system does its magical feats .

So true also , dili siya mas stressful unlike sa nursing thats why I settled for it because dili kabayran ang stress na dili para imoha . The problem with the nursing profession is , nahimong scapegoat na siya and ticket for a lif abroad . Na misinterpret na nila ang core and essence of th profession thats why low standards ang gi produce na professionals because most if not all sa akong gi refer to kay makapasar lang without love , passion and code and ethics as nurses . Even ang USC karon daghan negative na storya which the school produces a lot of nursing graduates also na walay kabutangan .

Even callcenters here , dili manawat ug nursing graduates / license nurses because they know pang short time ra ni sila waiting for sponsors , visa's etc maka sibat sa nasod . Its the sad truth and thus the reason why I promoted and introduced NUTRITUION DIETETICS . Its an option where you can stay where you feel comfortable , clinical / administrative / private practice / food and beverage industry / sports etc . What rocks your boat and makes you happy . This is not meant to insult th nursing profession kay maybe di nimo ma feel and na feel sa ubang nurses na mga fresh graduates .

By the way , since when ka nag work sa US ? How long have you been a nurse ?

That link refers to the status of nurses around 7 to 10 years ago . My friend , it is now 2010 and this is not even the peak yet for the dificulty of life in the place we supposed to call the land of milk and honey .

These are not specifics only to nurses but in general , maski ang skilled workers are apektado but ma emphasize ang nurses considering grabe ka populated na ang field specially sa Philippines na dili na kaayp top notch ang products na world class quality .

@springfield, na unhan ko nimo sulti da na this is an old published journal, though ang ila projected dates includes the range of 2010-2020. yet, it's true that what happen sa health care field and other professions karon ky di pa gyud ni mao, tip palang sa iceberg ni sa present economic state sa USA.

teachers in most states karon feared losing their jobs gani. another 100teachers in Providence, Rhode Island will be fired soon. Reason: poor productivity and NO FEDERAL BUDGET!

it is premature to say, the future of nurses these days...but anyhow, let's not lose hope! every1 just have to think of ways to improve themselves while waiting IF u still want to pursue in this field.

    1. don't blame the people you termed "entreprenuerial minds", instead be thankful they exist and they provide educations.
    2. "...merely making it as a profitable business." you can't expect them to loss their money, they should be smart to invest it, wisely. yes they do get richer every semester, but if you want to hold a campaign... that's a good start...
    3. "...oversupply of nurses yet lacking quality and competent ones." don't blame the schools, don't blame the teachers and don't blame yourself for asking this. so, who is to blame? ...who goes to school everyday just to find out the teacher is always late and drunk? who knows that this is wrong? who knows that why is it like this? who knows that the compentence has been jeopardize? and who knows this? yes your classmate. ... it's all about self-motivation, if you can't get it from the outside, find it yourself.
    4. "...government..." oh come on...

though this is true, highschool graduates are not smart enough to choose a course for their future, did i not mention that parents plays' a vital role, that's the next question comes in, what if there parents are bluh bluh bluh... it's a cycle like a proverbial water under the bridge...

    this is just my opinion...

thanks for mentioning about healthcare... i feel like i'm obligated to pay my tax for these low_life_lazy people, wow 3 Ls.

    just got this from email.

    snopes.com: Dr. Starner Jones

Pictured below is a young physician by the name of Dr.. Starner Jones. His short two-paragraph letter to the White House accurately puts the blame on a "Culture Crisis" insteadof a "Health Care Crisis". It's worth a quick read:

    Dear Mr. President:
During my shift in the Emergency Room last night, I had the pleasure of evaluating a patient whose smile revealed an expensive shiny gold tooth, whose body was adorned with a wide assortment of elaborate and costly tattoos, who wore a very expensive brand of tennis shoes and who chatted on a new cellular telephone equipped with a popular R&B ringtone.
While glancing over her patient chart, I happened to notice that her payer status was listed as "Medicaid"! During my examination of her, the patient informed me that she smokes more than one costly pack of cigarettes every day and somehow still has money to buy pretzels and beer.
And, you and our Congress expect me to pay for this woman's health care? I contend that our nation's "health care crisis" is not the result of a shortage of quality hospitals, doctors or nurses. Rather, it is the result of a "crisis of culture", a culture in which it is perfectly acceptable to spend money on luxuries and vices while refusing to take care of one's self or, heaven forbid, purchase health insurance. It is a culture based in the irresponsible credo that "I can do whatever I want to because someone else will always take care of me"
Once you fix this "culture crisis" that rewards irresponsibility and dependency, you'll be amazed at how quickly our nation's health care difficulties will disappear.
    Respectfully,
    STARNER JONES, MD

no offense if you have friends living in Medicaid and food stubs, i just don't admire them. i feel like my $572 tax deduction per payroll goes to these 3 Ls, but i'm fine if part of it goes to support Iraq soldiers.
