    i think that's a flying-hovering jet? than a car? hahah...

if we would be in the flying car era, then hala moh... kalas jd kaayo ang gasolina.. mahal pa jd kaayo. to fly takes a lot more fuel than to drive. and i think it needs high octane fuel for this too happen. so diesel won't work? nya more air pollution sad... good luck nalang ninyo.. pero ako? stick ghapn ko sa ligid. crisis na ron. hahahah

maglev? fly? maglev can float.. but fly?? don't think so. and very limited kaayo ang maglev. without the piece of magnetic metal on the road, you can't fly. meaning you can't free roam. meaning you can't fly to your boondocks.. keep the maglev technologies to the trains.

I like the maglev idea, but for mass transport (i.e. trains, transoceanic megatrains), not for individually piloted vehicles.

Here is a moderator's attempt to clean up this particular thread.

A good video and report about Terrafugia

YouTube - First Flight: "Flying Car" Terrafugia Transition Roadable Aircraft

    Photos:

    Obvious issues/problems:

    1. Take-off and landing restrictions - will it be allowed to take off and land on normal roads? Or take off and land ONLY on airports, then drive from-to it.

    2. Pilot ratings - what sort of ratings/certifications are needed by the pilot/driver?

    3. airspace considerations - what sort of airspaces can it be allowed to fly through? what is the max ceiling allowed for the flying car?

    4. Other legal issues pertaining to safety (I bet there are a ton of these).

The four points I raised above are the sort of discussions that are highly encouraged in this subforum--it stays well within the topic, and actually tries to INFORM rather than to keep inserting random items in the topic. So please try to keep the random chit-chat at a minimum. Thank you.

    @ rodsky
again, let's broaden up the idea..

    1. trusters rather than propellers.
    we don't need runways..

    2. piloting will be as easy as apollo 13..
you only need a joystick on a size of a calculator. wahehehe. joke only.

    3. if harrier was able to have a license to fly, why can't a small vehicle with smaller footprint.
    think..

    4. make a lot of flying cars, legal issues solved..
