Why prefer DDR2 RAMs than DDR3?

i think there is no question in terms sa kon unsa ang better technology, ang DDR3 ba or DDR2. ang DDR2 for now is already maxing out its potential, ang DDR3 naa pa lang sa pinaka relaxed nga timings. it also runs on lower voltage. overall it is a step up jud. ang sakto siguro nga question is para kang kinsa ang DDR3? kon naa kay DDR2 karon nga pas2x and tight ang timings, it doesnt make sense to make the switch for now, kay almost parehas pa man ang performance sa high end DDR2 sa lower offerings sa DDR3. kana lang siguro mga mag build og new systems, mu suggest jud ko to go for the newer technology pud, especially nga comparable na ila price karon.

the reason why we upgrade is of course to "gain performace"...
but the question is: Is the "gain" worthy for the "price"?

Most are now transitioning to DDR3s because the next gen system i5, i7 and phenom 2 are on ddr3.

I cannot say people are prefering DDR2s over DDR3s. Most likely people who prefer ddr2s are on a tight budget and dont have money yet to upgrade to i5, i7 or phenom2.

Now prices of ddr3s are catching up with ddr2 and most likely ddr2 prices would go up since it would be faced out.

I'm currently using ddr3 1600 with cas7 since the DDR3 mobo I purchase is considerably cheap.
On the contrary ddr3 mobos are considerably cheap now.
