    Default Tennis Overload

Aussie surface has a slower surface even compared to the US OPEN.

Graf won her Golden grandslam at 1988 .... she won on all surfaces plus the Olympics that year.... Hana Mandlikova was still playing then (considered as one of the greatest brains in the game)... Navaratilova was still doing good back then.. and Evert was still on the top 5.

After Seles got stabbed... Sanchez-Vicario stepped up... although her game couldn't be compared to Seles' .. she was a very formidable opponent (like a Michael CHang in women's Tennis).

As far as Hingis' game... the game got too popowerful which works on her disadvantage. The revolutionized racquets ain't helping her either. She doesn't need that much power on her groundstrokes since her groundstrokes are all about hitting the lines..... it's her serve that's suffering.

Hingis was doing so well against Capriati in the 2002 Aussie Open until her game just collapsed..she was going for more winners there and obviously had Capriati on a straing there...

Hingis can really do it if she can...serves can be improved.....all she has to do is hang in there with the power against the Williams sisters!!

yes...Graf did win the 88 Grand Slam..but that was when Navratilova was experiencing a decline in her game and Evert was powerless against Graf..

with the advent of the Seles coming..the return of serve became a giant factor (well proven now by the WIlliams sisters and Davenport) in winning tournaments...as well as the tenacity and grit of a Seles..which will never be equalled in the game....

at least Seles does not lose 6-2, 6-0 when she was no. 1..unlike a Graf who lost 6-2, 6-0 against a Sanchez Vicario....

Sanchez Vicario is not a formidable opponent...she lost to Seles so many times when they played as young teenagers....

and Seles had the most Grand Slams for a 19 year old...eight upon the conclusion of the 1993 Aussie Open...

Bisag si Michael Chang... he improved his serve bisag mobo siya...
I don't think Hingis has the same confidence as she had before... plus, wala nay fear factor ang uban players when they play against her.. they know she's not as invincible as she was before. Sa una, intimidated dayon ang kontra... and she plays her oponents like a YO-YO.. she dictates the game even without overwhelming power.

She tried to put power in her game against Capriati kay she wasn't winning with her usual game... she lost confidence in her game

Agree gyud ko that Seles was great.... I looked up to her game since we have the same tennis grip.
As far as Tennis scores goes.. most of the time sa games between top players.. the scores couldn't justify how the game went kay sometimes it comes down to the deuces.. just so happens that the opponent gets the better hand when it's 40 all.
Seles also had her moments when she lost with a very lopsided score but it doesn't mean na the game wasn't tight at all.

I still think Hingis should come back...she's a personality tennis will miss...with all her tantrums...cute siya tan awon nga sapoton!

Yeah pero I guess she knows that she can't catch up with everyone.... she's another case of Tracy Austin.. early Burnout

Seles has lost with the lopsided scores only more recently..now that she's no longer immortal as she used to be on the courts...

but she virtually demolished opponents in the earlier rounds when she was tops and only got into two or three tight matches before winning a title....

She really is the epitome and the woman who brought the return of serve to the forefront of the attacking game...which gave tennis a new face...

which apparently many players eventually copied...Davenport, Pierce, the WIlliamses, Capriati, Henin, Clijsters....

    a true icon!!!

Nobody dominated like Seles on the groundstrokes during her time... there was Capriati (who didn't have the power before then), Graf (who only had her forehand but her backhand is still defensive), and Huber (who actually has power on both sides) ... other may have the power but lacks the consistency.
With the women's tennis before not having a player with that big serve except for Novotna... Seles dictates the point as soon as she returns the serve.
And... before, she had the mobility of someone young and skinny... If only she kept on playing, she could've adapted with her growth in height, and I'd doubt that she'd be overweight as well........... if only she kept on playing.
