Arctic Cooling
This is the actual cooler that i need. Can only be bought on-line. Pero I inquired with APC and they said that they can order this for me. I just don't know lang how long it will take.
it's because there's another model that looks the same.. and only works for the GTX 280 series, or 9800gt series.. 8800 got series, twin turbo series.
Yeah. I was there today @ APC and yes that Accelero Extreme 8800 is only for Nvidia GPU and it's only for single GPU's. It only has 1 heat sinks even if it has 3 fans. Sayang. Well I already inquired with APC and ordered the Arctic Cooling Accelero Extreme 4870x2 that's really made for the ATi Radeon HD4870x2. Medyo mahal lang nga, but it's better than just letting my video card just go to waste.
For now while I was at APC, I bought an expensive type of thermal paste Zalman worth P525.00, opened and cleaned out my video card thoroughly and cleaned out the old paste along with the other dust that was collected inside. Applied that Zalman paste on the processors and heat sinks and assembled it back together. There was 1 thing that I didn't put back. I didn't place the screws back on the cover of the blower. The reason is so that I didn't have to remove the heat sinks and reapply new paste every time I clean the card. Grabe kasi if I were to put the screws back on, I would also have to disassemble the whole unit all over again the next time I clean. I just applied some electrical tape on the sides of the cover of the blower para lang hindi matanggal. It still works.
Just tested the video card again, now it's like brand new again. The idle temp at 30% fan speed is now @ 45c and now when I play the new games, the highest temp does not go over 70c. I thought that this was a hard process to do the Do-It-Your-Self methods, kasi nga nag Google ako sa proper disassembly of the 4870x2 and some people failed and damaged the card. I'm just glad I found some good help online and I wasn't part of the failed. Heh heh. Thanks again for all the help and suggestions here.
