You need to take an NZ exam they will not honor your License tho it will add additional points.
there is a point system for every requirements you have including you're status, if I'm not mistaken a total of 150%

getting a student visa will only make it worst, you will have problem if you will be applying for a job there, since students visa also has restrictions and most of all applying for your residency.
