    3.8 GHz, update!

    • Increased core ratio to 11.5 with FSB left at 333 with a resulting clockspeed of 3829 MHz (3.8 GHz)
    • Increased voltage to 1.36825 to compensate for the motherboard's vDROP although processor is stable at 1.328 volts and 1.280 vDROOP. CPU VTT is at 1.20 volts.
    • Switched stress-testing to Prime95 SmallFFTs as IBT fails after a few minutes -- requires fine tuning of CPU and MCH GTL Ref settings.
    • tRD (MCH) lowered down to 5 from the default 7
    • added +100ps for DIMM clock skew for stable tRD operation at 5.
    • increased MCH voltage to 1.20 volts.
    • Memory latency and frequency is still at DDR2-800 4-4-4-12 2T at 2.0 volts, respectively.

    Spoiler!

    4 GHz, update!

    • Core ratio is now 12, giving me an effective overclock of 3996 Mhz (rounded off to 4 GHz)
    • Voltage has to be increased to 1.425 volts to compensate for vDROP at 1.376 volts and vDROOP at 1.344 volts. LLC will be enabled on the next tests to verify how high the chip can go within absolute maximum voltage - 1.45 volts for 45nm CPUs.
    • 1-hour stable Prime95 Small FFTs test with maximum temperature hovering around 66c (damn, this chip is cool!), idle temps are of course, unknown because of sticky sensors.

    Spoiler!

diminishing returns naman at this clockspeed, wala na kaayo ma yield na performance at the given voltage and frequency. pinakalami nga OC sa chip with DDR2-800 and standard strap (266) is 3.3 GHz (266 x 12.5), wala'y voltage adjustment and IBT stable pa. will test with memory set at DDR2-1066 CAS5 later .

    ^ nice nice nice!
sir polds, naa ko (newbie) question..
i'm using 2x2GB kingston value ram then using cpu-z, ang makita nako sa timings table kay 333,333,400 (la ko screenshot kay naa ko office. hehe)...does that mean di nako pde i-underclock ako mems to 266? currently nakaunderclock ako mems sa ddr2-667.

Medyo nabusy gamay sa Raven mao wala na overclock padayun ang E5200. Anyway, I had the chance to try again this morning.

    • Core ratio is now 12.5, giving me an effective overclock of 4,162 Mhz (rounded off to 4.1 GHz)
    • LLC is now enabled to refrain from using extreme voltages to compensate for vDROOP. Voltage BIOS set is 1.4625, CPU-Z reads voltage at 1.424 fixed.
    • 45-minute unstable Prime95 Small FFTs test with maximum temperature hovering around 75c.

Lisod na kaayo kontrollon ang voltage at this frequency. It failed after 45 minutes even with 1.424 volts LLC enabled, I'm sure 1.43 would put this on the 1-hour mark but I no longer have the time to test it further. Will test the board with a Digital MultiMeter to confirm if BIOS and Windows reported voltages are accurate (basin masunog lang ni'g kalit ang proc kay grabeh na diay ang overvoltage.

    Spoiler!

Off-topic: Flashed my 9800GT VGA BIOS with modified fan profile. Configured minimum fan speed at 60%, yay!

    Spoiler!

polds, the results you posted helped in confirming on top of my head that even processor in the same batches does not overclock or yields the same results OR it could also be that certain brands of motherboards shines more than the others. It's fun discovering and learning new things along the way and helps in slowing down the aging process

true gyud...especially sa motherboards...kanang iyang mga chipsets, like the processors, naa poi good & bad overclock handlers...this is in relation to your txt to me gahapon(sorry karon pa ko kita kai ako cfone nahabilin, maayo nalang gi-uli sa mermaid nga nakapunit) about fsb wall & how to overcome it...master CE, naka notice ka diha ra gyud kutob nga fsb range, kung kana nga particular mobo imong gamiton?

master, hehe saonz maayo wa la texti sa mga mermaids si kumander using your phone ..dako unta to nga kumbati hehe

regarding sa fsb wall question yesterday, i was testing it on e 6500K and I am very close to 500 fsb but couldn't surpass it that is why i texted you because I need some wisdoms from the real MASTER. The board i was using (GA P45 Extreme) and this board has no problem reaching over 500 so it's not the board and I have seen cpu z validation of 6500K over 500 fsb so it's not the processor either. I was close but maybe 500 fsb is just not possible on air OR it's just that my limited knowledge in overclocking was the bottleneck and in case like this I always seek for your help

I was going to try it on the DFI but I felt lazy. I think I am spoiled by the fact that you only need to remove 2 screws when switching processor on Megahalem coolers and it seems like a lot of work doing it on True-120.

Regarding the motherboard,I noticed on the 2160 that it's a struggle to get it to 450 fsb using the GA p45 Extreme but it was like slicing a knife on butter on the DFI p35 board. With this experience I occasionally misspelled Gigabyte to Gaygabite for some odd reasons

hahaha saons na lang, diba nka abot man kag taas taas nga oc ato imo E5200 bai CE?

    OT:
@bai polds, ask lang ko walay load pa na imo 9800gt? sa ana nga gpu z? taas taas lage og temps with 60% fan speed
unsa imoha gi gamit pag flash sa bios imoha 9800gt?

@simoko ayo gane bai kay honest mermaid to giuli u phone hehehe

4 ghz ra oi kay need na taas kaayo vcore if go higher na and pang 24/7 to na rig baya so temps and voltage should be at low as possible

    @poldo

ot lng ko gamay, bai polds rev 1.1 na imung Gigabyte GAEP45-UD3R mobo? nice OC btw.
