Yes. Excluding the Harry Potter series, The Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia were written primarily to beckon you to philosophical, moral and theological instrospection, not to entertain. And its "Narnians." Theological, philosophical and moral truths are sometimes conveyed through "myth". "Myth", you see, is usually understood as an frustrated but honest effort to explain something that, as of the moment, is cannot understood scientifically or philosophically. Here, Tolkien and Lewis and the Inklings offer another definition of "myth", which is an honest effort to explain something that cannot be understood scientifically and that can be hinted at philosophically and that can be profoundly but still incompletely be understood by faith.Originally Posted by pazuzu690
I guess you could say Tolkien and Lewis did not have in mind a following of readers of their fantasy fiction but readers who will delve deeper on the mysteries of Christianity through the awe-inspiring door of "myth".
And its "Narnians". Thank you.
Finally downloaded that really big trailer (55MB). But at least I can watch it full screen in full detail. This movie is definitly striving more for the kids audience. Even if it's the same FX company of LOTR, the Narnian characters are more polished than the battleworn dwellers of Middle Earth.
You'll be surprised how the series continue to fascinate theologians and philosophers at the mind of C.S. Lewis.Originally Posted by abortretryfail
