unsaon man kung ang imong dog dli magpa pugong? iya tangtangon after then lisod sad kau pugngan.... hehehe
thats where the "virtue of patience" comes in. pirmihan ra nimo balik balik gyud, kon tang tangun kasuk-e. ag na tang tang; balik nasad pugong.
oks ra na sa puppy kay dili pa kaayo gubot; pero once mo dako na; then wala gi anad sa pag ka puppy pa ug pugong; dako gyud nang problema.

waaaaaaaaaaaaaa... in my case, i really really need to learn that "virtue of patience" thing...
we breed shih-tzu. thats one of the many questions we ask to potential new homes of our shih tzu puppies.
- "kon taas ba iyang pasensya."
louy sad ang ST's na ma putlan ug buhok or ma puppy cut because of the reason na ang tag-iya cant take care of the time and patience in grooming the dog.

my puppy is also a shipoo and short pa kaayo ang iya fur.. at 2 months i was expecting the fur to be a bit longer or at least close to touching the floor. but wala pa.. in theory, i think ni dominate ang poodle gene sa fur that probably the reason dili kaayo taas iya fur. but soo curly and fluffy. hehe..
@maryann_19: did you happen to buy from a woman named Naomi? my pup was also born at March 26, 2009. i think igso.on ako puppy with yours. hehe..
@guilliam: bitaw? i always thought that its not a good practice to take the pup away at less than 2 months because the pup is still dependent on his/her mother for breast milk or somthing.. not entirely on social skills.. though my girlfriend's golden retriever just gave birth to 4 healthy pups and their 2 weeks younger than mine.. my pup socializes with the 4 pups very well despite of me taking my pup at 6 weeks old.. given what you said, is it a case to case basis? regarding on the social skills of the pup i mean..
sorry for the ignorance.. im like learning puppy 101. haha.. lol. such a newbie!!
going back to the topic: i trimmed a bit of the fur around the eyes of my pup since i noticed her eyes were starting to get red. i initially thought she was sleepy because the first time i noticed it was when she was sleeping and i wanted to play with her therefore i woke her up. (oops!) hehe.. but then, i noticed that the eyes persistently got red for a couple of days.. after reading forums and this post, i decided to trim the fur around her eyes since i figured na.irritated iya eyes from her fur of dust or etc. the tear stain is gone though (after trimming) and her eyes haven't been red since then..
at 3 weeks and less, pups are dependent to their dam. 3 weeks above they will start to discover their surrounding hence bec of the development of their sense or vision and hearing. at 1 month this is when their social skill is starting to develop because of their motor skills developing they will play with their dam or their littermates. as natures foremost rule "survival to the fittest" suggests he who is mightier in terms of size or strength takes the ALPHA among the litters. this social development is very crucial from one month till 2 months since this is when the sociability of the pup is initially developed. taking away a litter from its littermates at less than one month when its social development has just started is like cutting the development itself while it just started.
it is good though that after your shipoo was rehomed he has other playmates like the GR pups; however, consider the size difference between the two breeds. if your shipoo has the ALPHA LITTER mentality and it socializes with the GR pups the prob there is that the GR pups will develop inferior pack strata against it since its older than the GR pups. not good for the younger GR litters. on the otherside; if the shipoo you have an inferior litter mentality it will develop more inferiority because of the GR size. this would somehow relate to the story "the ugly duckling". so im saying that better let your shipoo play with adult dogs than to have it socialize with another litter batch which is a few days/weeks younger or older.
in shorter term; a litter should havent been taken away from its littermates earlier than 2 months.
im not a canine behavioralist; this is just my personal and empirical assessment.
