Urban Legend! It's a Myth! Recycled Crap! need i say more?

Most young cebuanos are not aware of coz this started i think around the late 70s or at the start of the 80s. Maybe the younger generation just heard it word of mouth from your elders. And i would say during that time, most people in the visayas and mindanao believed in the story. Most chinoy businessmen (those having a department store business) fell victim of this supposed "blackmail." But i'm not erasing the possibility baka meron nagyaring ganyan considering their culture that snakes are lucky. I had a chinese relative who keeps a giant python as pet at the back of his grocery store, pero hindi naman siya naging successful talaga..

The first time i set foot in cebu (i'm from mindanao) was in 1983 and during that time the story was at the height of its peak.. Most bisaya families who wanted to do serious shopping always travel to cebu. So there you go, it was my mom and dad who first told me the story of the robinson snake.. Hadlok pud ko ui especially in the 80s most department store building strutures are made of wood. The moment you step on the wooden floor inside their fitting room, makulba-an ka basin mu open kalit ang floor then kaonon ka sa halas! hehehehe...

The Gokongwei family already issued a statement and a challenge a long long time ago. If i could remember sometime in the mid 90s, Robina the daughter issued the challenge in a TV interview saying that "My family won't hesitate to give 1 (one) Robinson mall as a prize to anybody or anyone who can provide irrefutable evidence that the story is true or if it did happened!" That challenge still stands until today.. In my opinion if it was a business rivalry, the only perpetrators could have been either Whitegold or Gaisano kay mao ra man na ila kontra sa negosyo during that time when that myth came out.

Robina is the daughter of John Gokongwei the patriarch of the Gokongwei Group of Companies. Their family owns more than 50 different companies including Universal Robina Corporation. Robina Gokongwei-Pei is the sister of Lance Gokongwei, the chair of Cebu Pacific.
