para unsa imo purpose brad? kung astronomical, duha imo kapilian sa mga do it yourself nga telescope: refracting ug reflecting. nya imo i-consider unsa ang imong mount system..altitude-azimuth or equatorial mount. nag hisgot man gud ka ug galaxies, so akong sabot nga astronomical telescope imo ganahan.

kasabot kaau ko ana kay naghimo man sab ko ug refracting telescope adtong grade 6 pa ko hehehe. nice man sab gud ang challenge. swerte ka naa daghan telescope plans available sa internet.

have you considered dobsonian? mas ok na sya para home builders.

moment of truth, with quality of local materials available, kutob ra ta sa moon viewing. but it is a very nice hobby....i encourage you to pursue it.

sa dili pa mahuman imo giplano nga telescope, ako i highly recommend mag download ka ug stellarium, latest version....ver10 pa man ning ako gani...its a very good tool to watch the skies as well as learning about the heavenly bodies.

i might add pa gani diay, problema kaau ang light pollution diri sa ato tungod sa urban lights. kung mag stellarium ka..u will be watching the sky in the comfort of ur room. wala pay paak sa lamok.

Not only the moon. The Dob I helped make back in 2004, for the MSU-IIT Astronomical Society, allowed us to observe Saturn's rings, Jupiter's moons, Venus' crescent shape, and even the Mercury transit of 2006, and this Dob was mostly made out of junk (except for the primary, secondary mirror and the eyepieces, of course). Taking it out of the city, we could also observe the wispy tendrils of the Orion and Trifid nebulas (once I even managed to see the Sombrero galaxy on an exceptionally clear night) so depende lang na sa pag-build nimo ug imong Dob, and what eyepieces you are using.

see my point there....u had non-junk mirrors and eyepieces...which are the impt components. telescopes are all about optics...put in junk optics....only good for moon watching.

In a way, they were still "junked optics" (the mirrors were taken off broken telescopes and the eyepieces came off broken binoculars). The only reason why I didn't classify them as junk in my previous post is because we didn't pick them off the trash heap like the other parts of the scope.
