Which DIRECTION should the AIR of the COOLING FAN be?

The cookie cutter would be

Intake on bottom front / side panel
Exhaust on upper rear/ top panel

Yeah, you only need to focus on front bottom intake and rear exhaust... side panel intake for your videocard is also optional.
The next question that would pop up would be, "Is it better to have stonger intake or exhaust"

Sometimes it would depend on your casing & cable management, a stronger exhaust means a negative pressure.. more noise might be created but there is lesser stagnation of hot air in the case, positive air pressure is the opposite.

im using a f1 racing casing at the moment. the bottom front panel has a 14cm intake fan. while the upper rear has a 12cm exhaust fan. the side panel fan is an exhaust too. there are no other places to put a cooling fan. is that ok?

and also my processor is a q6600 quad core. is there a need to apply branded cooling heatsink and thermal paste? i just used the heatsink with fan that was with the processor. i dont have any plans of overclocking though at the moment.

and can you tell me if the HEC 550w PSU reliable? that is what i have now at the moment...

please enlighthen me master. ^_^
