There are good waves in western luzon. Zambales, La Union (San Juan) and Bauang. I've only been to San Juan. Beach break and point break(sort of). Beginner friendly. Lots of teaching locals(non-hostile).

by the way... the point break... does it break on a rock formation or a pier? i find it scary to surf on a point break. beach break is the safest for me no need for rashguard. hehehehehhe

The point break in San Juan is a remnant of an old deed reef formation jutting slightly outward to the sea. Still very hard surface but smoother than a real reef break. You will need a rash guard to protect you from the effects of rubbing against the waxed board when paddling. But if you are on your feet most of the time maybe you can do away with it. I just wear a shirt.

i find rashguards effective not only against boardrash but also against sun burns sa back. hehehehehe... mas mu prefer ko beach break... mas sayon for me. ionno why. maybe because sa form sa waves.... i can't tell the difference though.
