I think ASP.NET is taking over the web market but I still prefer php for its speed. oh well every language has its pros and cons, so lets just use what's float our boat.

PHP is already one of the most prominent web development tools today. There is another one coming, Ruby on Rails, and it seems its selling like a hotcake. I wonder if it will overtake php in the future though.
The only reason PHP is used widely is because it is easy ... everyone can do it. That doesn't make it the future.
Like I said before, if I were to dictate the future, it'd be Python. mmmmm Django ... http://www.djangoproject.com/
Basin paliton ng PHP sa Microsoft, impas...

Unbelievable. No one mentioned Struts and AJAX which is suitable for large scale easy-to-maintain systems.Originally Posted by morphian

Widely supported by whom ? Majority of web developers ? Majority of the web communities?Originally Posted by vern
PHP, JSP, and ASP are the most popular web development tools/technology as far as I know and
heard of. I also know for a fact that open source communities support either PHP or JSP. Copyright enthusiasts support ASP.
But to what extent can you say that a web development tool is widely supported ?
I chose JSP | Struts because maintenance is easy.
