I'm using two monitors, two keyboards, two mouses, and 3 CPUs in my desktop right now. One is running Gentoo Linux, and one is running FreeBSD. It really improved my productivity since I can run applications that are only Linux or FreeBSD-specific. I often use the Linux box for viewing real-time logs and for accessing my development VMs' shell. I also use it for IRC and YM. The FreeBSD box is for coding and for viewing the front-end. The third CPU is a small Soekris box that I'm using as a hub for the two CPUs. For running Windows applications, we have Windows 2000 and XP servers that we can remotely access via rdesktop.

or better yet, palit nalang ka KVM switch para 1 monitor lang imo need, then bahala nka pila kabook imo CPU ideal cpu is 1 pc for business machine, 2pcs for test machine...mao ni ang style sa mga dagko nga company...productive kaau ni cya kay maka test manka sa imong gi develop nga apps across different OS or platforms in a span of little time, imagine mag test ka sa imong single develop apps in all windows OS sa windows palang na...essential man jed e test ang apps sa uban platforms for compatiblity purpose....things lyk that...

I am using VMWare. It's currently running on my Linux box (and on other Windows box as well). My FreeBSD box also hosts a dozen qemu VMs, but I prefer to run all my VMs on other machines so as not to disturb me.

My Linux box is running Xen hypervisor too. I would have preferred running Xen (it beats all emulation solutions, including VMWare hands down), but since we need to run FreeBSD guest OSes, I need to have a special processor/motherboard in order to do machine-assisted virtualization.

one thing i "cannot forget" with my own experience in programming is

"Resourcefulness"

pwede raman walay internet ba, basta naa lang kay reliable na computer na
magunitan. every linux users and programmers should think about that.
why spend all the things when u have the brains. u can work on it, me ive
tried it already. with limited things and stuffs no problem kung maka gunit ko ug
pc.


dont forget, "resourcefulness" should do the job

Seriously, almost all are implemented here at work except sometimes #6 kay saba usahay.
