do we really need firewall and anti-virus sa ubuntu? na paranoid na nu.on ko dah.. hehehe.. but I still feel safe sa ubuntu even if it's out of the box

dont worry about virus and network intrussion in ubuntu, its already hardened a bit, you should worry more on re-occuring breakage sa iya mga package other than that ubuntu is one tough distro... but for really hardened one used debian stable (jessie)

for pure firewall. i'll bet with iptables, but if you want easy configuration and more add-ons go on with the firewall distros.

Yeah.. iptables would do the trick. At least for the experienced one. Been using it since my first Slackware server (LAMP, Squid Proxy, BIND)

ako kay wala naman ko ga gamit ug firewall but depende ra gihapon sa service nga imong gi provide, ssh key lang gyud akong gamit sa akong mga server. malingaw raman ko tan-aw sa ssh log.. hehehe...

naka try ko ufw ra nga firewall..

i still recommend IPtables + UFW + GUFW... naa bay router with builtin IPtables? or need jud i flash?
