The problem with this statement is, for us human beings, the appreciation of size is mostly a visual affair. Meaning, we can automatically tell if the size of a slice of someone's pizza slice is bigger than yours. Similarly, we can only relate to size of the universe as compared to something else we've seen, but honestly, have you seen anything bigger than the universe? So how can you now appreciate its size?
Another point re this visual enslavement. Suppose you were an ant, who lived inside a Coke bottle all your life, and in your dying moments, you managed to crawl out of the bottle and stare at the vastness of the table...will you then conclude "Ahhh, the universe must be as big as this table..."
Think and ponder.

it could be of any size.
see the movie nga MIB?
To refine that statement, it could be of any size larger than the size of the observable universe, which is currently about 42 billion light years across. This effectively means, you cannot say the universe is the size of your bowl of noodles, because the bowl of noodles is sitting there on the table in front of you.
