I started here in Manila at 40T + 6T allowance. I never had a problem with it. Naka save ko ug around 20T a month. As I have said, 40T is already decent living.

Advice lang nako nimo bai diri ka mangayo ug advice anang NAA DIRI manila. Don't be put off by people saying "mahal ang manila". Ang McDo diri willl cost you the same in Cebu. Ang corned beef diri will cost just as much.

Ayaw pag sige resto or fastfood: Buy groceries, it's cheaper. Some guys sa akong unit mag sige noodles para dako ma save although dako sila sweldo. Ayaw palabi ana, makadaut na sa tinae.

Share a condo: it's safer. Look for landlords who meticulously screen their tenants. At least medyo ma minimize ang trouble maker.

Commute: Unya nata mangambition ug auto kai daghan labad gyud sa manila. Traffic? Never ko nagkaproblema ug sakay diri. Sure, daghan tao, daghan auto, but I never had to wait in line for more than 5mins when catching a ride going to work or going home. Di man gud mag ilog ang mga tao diri kaayo. (actually mangilog but dili lang kaayo grabe) The only time nga konsimisyon ko ug linya was buying a ticket to go back to Cebu where I waited a solid 5hours.

Kita man gud naa anad na puyo sa atong mga mama ug papa. Mao nang maghunahuna ug adto manila or any other place sa kalibutan the first thing you would hesitate is the cost of living and the pay.

Like everything else in this world, INFORMATION is your best weapon. Take your feedback from FIRSTHAND testimonials and not SPECULATIVE nor 3rd party testimonials (i.e. "Kabayo sa kong amigo sa amigo sa amigong sa akong ig-agaw"). Ngano man? Makastorya mo anang tawhana? Siyempre dili! That's like asking if there's such a thing as a ghost and all you see are just "stories" but no one can give you substantial evidence.

I came here to for a Java developer postion and I have barely 3yrs experience at it. I even heard Cebu pays that rate these days. So if that's true, I will stay here for the time being and come home para lang to prove I deserve that same rate in Cebu.

But, of course, ayaw sad dawat anang offer na naai 2yr tali. 1yr is okay. If you're not sure sa company ayaw lang patali. You can do some job hunting on the side. LOL

I didn't even bother asking for relocation coz I know nihit kaayo nang company na mohatag ana. I went here AT MY EXPENSE. That way you don't learn to take things for granted.

^ i agree with tokidoki. Manila is not an expensive place. Fastfoods here cost the same with those in Cebu. SM groceries, Robinsons etc, they have same prices as there. Ang mahal diri are fruits and vegetables. Pareha ra ang kilo sa bugas ug baboy.
I really wonder ngano moingon ang uban nga mahal ang Manila. Depende raman siguro nimo ug magpaturakas ka ug gasto nabag-ohan ka sa kadako sa imong sweldo.

wala man ko blema sa kapoy-an kay naa man ko daghan auntie sa manila. about sa commute naa man MRT/LRT.
ang akoang 40k is not for my living only. nahan gyud ko nga naa nako savings para sa akong parents ug sa akong future family. and akoa is compared sa singapore in case makawork ko didto ug sa accenture nga 40k plus..asa kahay mas dako ug matigum nako. anyways, i already told accenture to call me back next month since ma release nako sa akong bond next month.i'll think it over and over again.

Actually, a decent rate for california would be 7000USD+ at least that's what I hear Americans say. I saw in one job forum na senior programmer siya palag siya sa 7k USD sa Google. hmm.... I'm not sure if he was just being ambitious but it does leave you with a raised eyebrow on how much it is worth.
