In my own opinion, after the devastation of WORLD WAR 2, with majority of the infrastructure damaged, we could have made a fresh and better start..coz it was like starting from square one and we had the finances ( war damages paid by the Japanese gov't and help from US )..we could have made a better development plan for the city, better zoning, better road network, better drainage, etc..instead of rebuilding a somewhat flawed set-up/zoning influenced by the Spaniards..We could have established a GOOD mass transport system instead of the Band-Aid solution Jeepney..with a good zoning plan e.q. set areas for residential, commercial, industrial, etc..then a mass transport system would have been effective with its routes catering to commuter needs..we could have had a better and more efficient traffic system..our leaders should have had long term vision..provide roads and drainage systems that can compensate for future developments for decades to come..probably, all these things happening around us is again a result of the typical pinoy thinking of "PWEDE NA YAN; BAHALA NA"...peace
