Tallo leaves Ateneo: Right or Wrong Move?

classic example of a "superstar complex"... sayang man si mac mac... He needs to earn his playing time just like any other player in ADMU MBT.. Juami Chiongson earned his minutes... Kiefer gave ADMU HS 3 championships... his international and local experience is enough thats why coach norman black gave him those minutes, ang he proved himself already during the pre season tournaments.. pero, there's no assurance that coach norman black will use him or give him the minutes he had during pre season... for mac mac, it doesn't mean if the coach didn't use him last summer he will sit on the bench all thru out UAAP season.... kulang pa gyud sya kompyansa sa lawas nya during practice that's why hindi sya nagamit masyado sa fil-oil tournament...

ADMU has plans for Mac Mac, that for sure... they wont get him if they want another bench warmer... For me, he wasted 1 year... but im hoping he can play this coming UAAP season...

i think, Mr. Mark Anthony Tallo is to blame... not Mac Mac...

He was a professional player before but he didnt act like a professional... never question a coach... lalo na yung coach na may championship records under his belt...

I played a lot of games against Coach Tallo during my playing days. One particular game, our team was about to win and his ONLINE players were making a lot of mistakes. He called a timeout, approached his point guard and with one punch to the stomach, tumba tawn ang bata. I wish his son all the best but I clearly believe that dili xa ang dapat paminawn sa bata, Ex-prof. or not.

Some people just want to achieve success or at least fame quick. Kinsa ba dapat natong katuohan? Si Norman Black nga nidevelop nilang Chris Tiu ug LA Tenorio or local basketball star ug amahan nga taas kaayo ug tan-aw sa iyang anak? With all due respect, for sure dako kaayo ug potential si Tallo but without the proper mentoring, he is going to be another wasted talent. Sooner or later they will realize that turning their backs to Ateneo was a wrong move. Ngano man diay kung minimum ang playing time for the first 2 seasons and become one of the team's star in the next 2? Hadlok masapawan ni Ravena? Insecurity at its peak.

Re: Buenafe. You brought it up so I went that way. AFAIK noone, not Buenafe, not the girl, not ADCJr, not anyone has made a statement. In the Tallo case it has been different, in fact Mr. Tallo has been quoted as saying "namakak" si Norman Black. Calling someone a liar is libelous material.

In the end we both agree. Tallo is probably better off someplace else.

However he made a mistake, whether it was choosing Ateneo or going AWOL from Ateneo is where we disagree.

Wrong or right, he made his bed with this "decision". By putting out something in the SunStar they implicitly opened themselves up to being public property. Being analyzed and counter analyzed by outside parties is part of the result of the decision. Why do you think there is a thread here on the forum.

Now he has to lay in the bed he made a mess of. Each action will have a reaction.

The Tallo's knew there would be backlash, they even welcomed it by putting an antagonistic tone in Mr. Tallo's article. It was just a question of how much. Now they are experiencing it.


BTW someone mentioned to me there might have been a second article about a week after Mr. Tallo's article in the SunStar. Is that true?

Edit: I found the article by some writer in SunStar who seems to be interested in only pushing one side of the story. I hope he decides to talk to some of the people from the other side to give some credibility to himself. There is one person mentioned in Mr. Tallo's salvos who can be found and easily contacted locally. Otherwise he sounds like Mr. Tallo has been paying for his dinner and drinks the past few weeks.

Kawawa rin ang bata, parents know a lot but sometimes they need to let others with an objective view handle things.

I have heard "stories" about what happened when MacMac's dad came to visit him a week or so before he left.

"Hearsay", but it was something like someone wanted to have Macmac maintain his "status". We can just speculate what that meant.

hadlok gyud masapawan ni Ravena siguro kaya umalis ng ATENEO... sa Credentials lang ni Ravena sa HighSchool, malayo sa na achieve ni Mac Mac... im not telling that CESAFI is a minor league but we all know that UAAP is the "Real Deal" in the Philippines... Mahina pa katawan ni mac mac thats why hindi sya gnagamit ni Norman Black... He must earn his PT..maybe this season kung hindi man, sure sa next season nasa rotation na sya... but He cant deman playing time sa coach lalo na with norman black....

Not to take anything from Tallo but Coach Norman Black is the head coach for a good reason. And if they field in Tallo who hasn't even learned the system yet how can they work as a team? IMO, the Tallo's should've been patient and understand that it was all for the better but I guessed they felt betrayed. Somehow, as a player, you have to learn the system to help the team and it is not all about you-no matter how much of a superstar you are you cannot help your team if you don't know the system, you will be out of place. Well I hope the decisions they have made will pan out in the long run.
