Actually, the Bible describes a God who at times makes no sense...like Abraham's sacrifice of Isaac. If Abraham was a theologian he would have surely failed the test.

Like you said, theologians are trying hard to explained a God that makes no sense is appropriate, otherwise if they can explain away God precisely then who needs faith anyway- it would be a dilemma. God that makes no sense is exactly the infinite God...if only theologians can put everything into an equation, like the way a mathematicians describes an example of a non-asymptotic curve that has an oscillatory component such as a sine wave, which never reaches a fixed limit; they would do a better job in explaining God in an approximate way.
