Sorry about your loss doi!
Having your BDs bask in the sun unattended outside has a lot of risks...over-heating, predation, etc. So, better keep an eye on your BD if you opt to bring it out for sunlight. If busy, kuwang sa oras kay nagdali na....just leave them to bask under their heat lamps na lang. Bring them out only if you have time to spare to keep an eye on them.
In the wild, they go under shaded areas if it gets too hot being under direct sunlight. They thermo-regulate so that they won't over-heat. So kung walay kadaganan ang BD since naa siya sulod sa bin, under direct sunlight for an hour or so....it will definitely suffer over-heating.
the basking spot in my BD enclosure often registers at 95 to 100degF on warm days. Hence I use a temp controller to regulate the heat on the basking spot so that I won't have to worry about the temp rising beyond comfortable levels for my BD. they are OK at 110degF max...but if the enclosure is not that spacious, it will also raise the temp levels on the supposedly cooler side. Hence I maintain my basking spot temp between 92-95degF only so that the cooler end will be at 84-86degF allowing my BD to thermo-regulate properly.

anyway, below are photo updates of my BD (sensya na sa qualty, phone cam lang. gitamad ko shoot using a DSLR):
sam @ day 46. already showing color on head & tail. she grew really fast when her appetite "sky-rocketed". her diet: newly-molted mealies, 1/4 & 1/2 inch black crickets, fresh veggies, and zoo-med juvy BD pellets.
