@ Velvett: Your American friend was basically correct in his assessment of Fox News, but it is more accurately a "highly conservative" news station. As for CNN, "very liberal politically" better describes their slant on the news. The BBC is not neutral; they are decidedly "anti-US" in their portrayal of the news. George Bush can read and write at a college level, and is therefore not "illiterate". I'm curious as to how your friend came to the absurd conclusion that VP Cheney is a string-puller of the president. That conclusion is based upon...?? Senator Obama is definitely attracting a lot of white supporters with his platform of "change", but the notion that ANY white supremacy group would align with him based on his campaign presentation is really, really far-fetched.. Best advice: research the info that you stumble upon during casual conversation before passing it on as being factually accurate.
I'm British and would not consider the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) to be Anti-American. They may well criticise the Government for it's policies but then they also criticise the British government as well. That's good reporting
Given the current mess that the US is in, I say the Government deserves all the criticism they get!!!
As for bush being able to read or write to college level.........................He could start by holding the book the right way up

trash news heh
@freeheeler: The BBC's anti-US bias is well-documented. Please refer to this story (from 2006) that I came across recently, regarding the "impartial" reporting style of the BBC. http://www.aim.org/media-monitor/bbc...american-bias/ ... As for the upside down book in your photo, that was obviously just a quick PR photo op. An aid handed him a book so that he could be photographed while pretending to be reading a story with the child. Hate to say it, but this is another cheap shot... I watch the BBC and CNN every day. At least the coverage of the Clinton/Obama race seems to be impartial, thusfar.
The photograph was actually photoshopped.
But there is is still no doubt that the man should have never have been made President, he got there because of money, not his ability to lead a country. Look at the mess we are now in.
He's responsible for the recession due to his terrible knowledge of money matters
He's responsible for the murder of 4000 troops. All for his friends in the oil business
A trillion dollars of american taxpayers money spent on a war which should never have been fought

Are you not embarressed?
how about McCain?
Former first lady Nancy Reagan endorses McCain...
He is way to old to do the job. A President can be elected for up to 8 yrs, that would make him almost 80. He wants to keep the troops in Iraq and has no idea about financial affairs.
Let's hope not!!!
@freeheeler: Do you feel that either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama are qualified economists? Please tell me why you feel that the president needs to be highly skilled in economics? Much of the blame for the current US economic crisis should be placed on the failures of the lending institutions who ok'd loans to under-qualified applicants, not the President. Would Ross Perot have been a better president because of his business savvy? Also, soldiers who are killed in war are not considered "murder" victims. Show some respect. Their loss of life in war is tragic, but war tragic by nature. I'm interested to see how either of the Democratic nominees would have fared under similar circumstances (heaven forbid). And, getting old sucks, but don't use it to gauge a person's qualifications. When my father was 80, his handshake could still easily crush your hand (but I do understand your concern). Isn't part of Obama's popularity based upon his relative "youth"?
