I just got a new Sigma catalog and there are new "digital" versions of these lenses but
I'm not sure if they're available here yet. But they're basically the same except the
smaller image circle and featuring extra coating on the rear elements for better flare performance.

@laagan, yeah, it's for aps-c only. i won't mind that cause as far as frame is concerned, i don't think i can afford the fullframe one.

at 1.4, this is kickass lens, at this price point i don't think canon/tokina/tamron can match this lens, or even the sigma itself .. they can't make better than this one, it's pretty clear, clean and sharp. on the canon side, you're choice is 35 1.4L w/c pretty expensive and beyond my budget.

so far, i have 2 lenses -- the sigma 30mm 1.4 and canon 85mm 1.8

Thanks abortretryfail and agoroy for the Sigma info. All the lenses you guys mentioned are less than $400 ( about 1/3 the price of the 24L or 35L) which makes it very interesting for me. I'll check them out at a local shop.

30mm won't work well with other canon bodies except 30D and 400D .. i'm not sure with 20D, but somehow not good with 300D and 350D
