We cannot rule out this possibility and I am inclined to agree on this. From what I gathered in other forums, these are some of the intriguing underlying issues prior to the hostage taking.
1. Mendoza who used to work before under Mayor Lim had already a fall off due to some disagreements. What this disagreements are, nobody knows.
2. The father of Christian Kalaw, Bob, wrote a viral email to the La Sallians detailing the dirty works of Mendoza and his group was also picked up by a police bigwig (could be a general). Mga mason ni sila and the brotherhood's old boy network came into play.
3. Mayor Lim eventually picked up the alleged wrong doings of Mendoza et al, (through the old boy's network) and initiated his removal. (could be because of no. 1)
4. There was internal investigation but the recommendation was to dismiss it because the Kalaws don't show up everytime a hearing is scheduled.
5. For some reason, the case was taken over by the Ombudsman. Mendoza was dismissed from the service and he appealed for reconsideration.
6. As the latest inquirer news indicates, Mendoza sent 3 letters to the Ombudsman to follow up his case but nothing happened.
7. Now it can be told that during the hostage taking, the Ombudsman denied she ever received the letters from Mendoza. Mendoza said he had return cards of the letters he sent.
8. There is something in this letters which created some doubts for me. Wa kaha to pug-oka sa Ombudsman because the old boy's network aka, THE BROTHERHOOD, is having influence on the matter.
9. We cannot discount the possibility nga diha sa Ombudsman dunay mga mason diha ug ilang gitagu-an ang letter ni Mendoza aron dili makita sa mohatag ug final decision.
Well these are just my personal views after reading some of the stuff from other forums. But try to ponder on the links below and try to analyze from what the hostage taker may have in mind prior to the killings on that unfortunate fateful day of Aug. 23, 2010.
