IF they will not be accepted at the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC), non-city residents should be brought to another hospital, not the Capitol, a Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) 7 official said yesterday.

DILG 7 Director Pedro Noval said while Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña’s decision to focus CCMC’s services to Cebu City residents is for “good intentions,” his plan to deny medical services to patients from the province, except in emergencies, and to deliver them to the Capitol is not good.

“What he (Osmeña) is doing is unprofessional, and shows unethical conduct for a public official,” Noval said when sought for reaction yesterday.

Naga Mayor Valdemar Chiong was also disappointed with Osmeña’s statement. “I think it is inhuman. What will happen if it is an emergency?” Chiong said.

Chiong said that as public servants, it is their obligation to provide the public with basic services, particularly to those who can’t afford it.

Im curious.. and mayeb has a point. If th eprovince is rich how come they can service thier constituents .

what point? a province being rich is irrelevant. naa may Malabuyoc hospital, North Gen Hospital ug South Gen Hospital. they can serve just like sa CCMC but perhaps lacks some equipment pa i think. besides, when a provincial patient is being transferred, dili man sa CCMC kasagaran molandig but sa VSMCC.

and what if probinsyano ka ug nadisgrasya ka tungod sa CCMC? dili nlng gyud ka ipa admit sa CCMC tungod kay dili ka taga syudad?

what if probinsyano ka nisuroy sa Colon St. nya gi atake ug mild sa heart or napi-ang ky napandol? dili gihapon i-admit sa CCMC?

what if akong lolo taga probincya pero tua sa amo puyo for awhile sa Cebu City nya kinanglan ma check up during that time? dili diay dawaton sa CCMC?

mao nay mga scenario nga posible mahitabo once mamili c Tomas ug kinsa ray pasudlon sa CCMC. That is being ruthless and reckless! That is being inhumane and unethical! HOW CAN YOU ADMIRE THAT KIND OF PERSON? Yes, i do admire him before. but now? pikat! basin after effects nana sa iyang pagcge ug chemo therapy...

Brod, i admire him based on what i see and read for the past 10 years of my stay in Cebu. My decision is not based on emotions etc.. but based on the information that i have. My only source is newspapers and tv news since im not a government employee or youth officer that knows politics. Im in cebu to work. And not to observe politics. So far the mayor is beneficial to my purpose in cebu

The other scenario you wrote above, emergency case... they can be admitted to CCMC. As you said posible mahitabo... i think naa sad heart ang mga tao sa CCMC once they believe the patient needs attention they will give one.

I judge based on my own data. If i dont see other data why would i judge. You may have seen lots of things (that i haven't) that made you hate Tom Osmena. Maybe if i see them too i will be with the same side as yours.
