Research Notes
The Thunder offense, on the whole, broke down once James Harden left the game. The Thunder ran 25 pick-and-roll plays prior to Harden fouling out but ran just two afterward. The transition offense also stalled, with the Thunder picking up 17 points on 14 transition plays prior to Harden fouling out. Afterward, the Thunder failed to score on their only transition play. This postseason, Harden has scored the eighth most points as a pick-and-roll ball handler and the sixth most transition points.

NEXT LEVEL: Kevin Durant continued a trend from this season (including playoffs), in which he has struggled in game-tying or go-ahead field-goal situations. In Monday's game, Durant had an opportunity to win the game in regulation with a 30-foot three-point shot which ended up being blocked by Shawn Marion. During the playoffs, Durant is now 0-2 and Russell Westbrook is 0-3 in these situations.

In the first three quarters of the game, Dirk Nowitzki had an offensive touch on 44.8 percent of the possessions he was on the court. In the fourth quarter and overtime, the Mavs started getting the big man the ball. Nowitzki received an offensive touch on 62.9 percent of the possessions he was on court, including eight of the 10 overtime possessions for the Mavericks.

NEXT LEVEL: Dirk Nowitzki played well overall but played even better during the second and fourth quarters, combining for 29 points on 9-12 shooting, including 9-10 from the free throw line. Dirk scored all 12 of his fourth-quarter points, including the game-tying free throws, as the Mavericks rallied from a 15-point deficit with a 17-2 run over the final five minutes of regulation.

The Mavericks are the only team in the last 15 seasons to win a playoff game in which it trailed by 15 or more points with 5 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
