Only in the Philippines where some people call as "friends" the very same foreigners that racially look down on them. No wonder why the Philippines will never progress. Although it's an "independent country" but it still subverts itself to the will of "richer" and "powerful" countries, even to the point of putting the blame to the current president, others even calling him a retard simply because "napahiya daw sila."

So what do you suggest? engage them in a racist exchange? The incident shames us, you can never justify what Mendoza did was right, try telling that to the Chinese, HK citizens and the international community daw.

Although we are apologetic for the event but we should not go to the extend of putting down ourselves too much as if we are inferior and them foreigners are superior.

We should get rid of our colonial mentality complex of kissing the asses of foreigners just to appease them and make them happy.

ill-placed nationalism. Mura ra ug imong gi tolerate ang similar incidents. Its like saying "anyway di bitaw Pinoy ang nangamatay" or "Maayo nuon, racist man sad gud na sila". Fact is one of us did a shameful criminal acrobatics and our government/police force was ill-fitted to handle the situation and only reinforced our image as a lawless land.

What happened was just an isolated incident.

Isolated? Yes that's true. But the effects are far-reaching in trade, tourism, international relations

Murders are happening in the USA, acid-throwing incidents on tourists are happening in HONG KONG, civil unrests are happening in Thailand, terrorists are bombing popular tourist sites such as the Holy Land in Israel, etc...etc..etc.. And yet we always try to create a grim picture that the Philippines is the most pitiful country in the world.

Crime in other countries do not justify that we become apathetic to criminality. Don't we all dream about having peace of mind brought about by a stable peace and order situation
