heads must roll but I also find it pretty unfair Police lang ang mangakasuhan. Media shares the blame. The live airing of the arrest of Mendoza's brother was a fatal trigger that could have been avoided had news outfits had enough common sense to know it is an emotional trigger with little or no media value worth its consequences.

    3. Why FOREIGN nationals to hostage? pwede ra unta ang ombudsman or any filipinos iyaha planohan to hostage the situation.

    4. As a summary, mura ug dili interesado ug tinud-anay ang OBJECTIVE sa hostage taker.

    5. He uses his relatives/igsuon as kauban sa iyahang pag-negotiate( THIS IS OBVIOUSLY PLANNED)

    6. The released DRIVER must be investigated also basin ug konsabo. Ngano ingon ana siya ka expert nga nakabuhi and then shouted nga PATAY na tanan...This is PANG-LUBOG sa scenario.

Dapat, e_trace ug dunay MONEY FLOW pud sa scenario. Basin in death row or wala nay klaro nga makabalik sa duty ning hostage taker and then GIBAYRAN UG DAKO or basin, GI_PIIT ni siya ug maayo to do the job and uses his relatives as part of the negotiations.....
whatever the facts was immaterial when the crisis situation was at hand. The best thing to do would have been to dupe Mendoza and let him believe his demands will be given. Because anyway, as a security expert pointed out, one is not obliged to honor an obligation/promise made under circumstances of duress

This is happening everyday to our OFWs....The HK hostage event just magnified it adding to the speculation that Filipinos are persecuted because of that incident. That incident was an isolated incident and the travel block is temporary. Instead of thinking how we are kawawa because we are being singled out due to the incident, think again. This has happened before to other countries, we are not that special na sa ato jud ni una nahitabo. So instead of spreading paranoia to instigate fear and over reaction, try to think of ways how to lessen the tension and fix the problem, not add fuel to the fire.

PNoy did say in the presscon "we did promise transparency" defending the decision not to order a news blackout. Press freedom is not absolute. I work in an institution they call the bastion of freedom and am familiar with the problems akin to absolutism in rights and freedoms. Clearly in the crisis situation at hand that day, live media coverage without regard to hostage safety and villain's emotions put the lives of not just hostages but also of cops in danger.

Anyways ... whjy is it still hard for people to understand that even if PNOY is the bottomline of all , yes we all know that becaus ehe is the commander in chief but you dont expect him to be there negotiating , operating , assaulting , placing and establishing safety perimeter etc maski semento pa na ang gi kordon ninyo layaton ra gihapon na sa mga CHISMOSO ug CHISMOSA . Point is , on top sa pag incompetent sa PNP , wala silay saktong training sa crowd control .

That is NOY2 fault right ?
I think what people are asking is in a situation of this magnitude with all its implications to international relations, the president should have been more involved/sensible, not in negotiating but in:
    1. getting in touch with the HK chief executive
    2. being briefed not to smile during inspection(Wa ba cyay image manager?)
    3. used his clout to appeal to media given the sensitivity of the situation.

Aren't we also to blame for wanting information? Even though naa ra ta sa TV set gatan-aw, did we not eagerly wait for live updates? We aourselves have fueled the greed of media outfits

With the implications to international relations that an event of this magnitude can bring, the president should have been on top of the situation, maskin dili visible basta at least informed, updated..di kay moingon lang I was in conference

bitaw, but as darkdruid pointed out lisod man gud tunlon nga we were embarrassed because we did not let the right team to do it. Had it been a better-equipped, better-trained team, at least no matter what the outcome we could say that was our best, wa na tay mahimo.

Take note that dili lang Pinoy ang nipuna ani, even the international community has noticed these lapses. IN a local daily photo one HK protester even posted a sign at the Philippine consulate in HK that read: "Condemns Philippine Police...Disregarding Hostage Safety"

It never categoically state the right course of action in a situation like this. At the very best, coverage can only be 'restrained'. Even that is open to interpretation
