The thread title is malicious, provocative and used to exploit paranoia. An appeal to probability which is a formal fallacy.

    Possibly P.
    Therefore, P?

It also implies a strawman argument. An informal fallacy like this one:

Person A: We need to change some provision of the constitution via Con-Ass.
Person B: No, coz many people believe it could only lead to no elections and therefore extending Gloria beyond 2010 and people will protest leading to a People Power and later leading to Martial law coz some of Arroyo's adviser are former Marcos advisers.

Detractors are also using this Con-Ass issue to scare and a squid tactic. Scare tactic coz it creates a delusion that the Con-Ass will somehow lead to Martial law. Squid tactic coz it diverts away Mancao's homecoming as somewhat a prelude to Martial law instead of the "real issue" of him testifying about the Dacer-Corbito murders.

    ---000---

    TO ALL READERS:

which of these have reasonable and fair arguments?

    These ones?

"There will be elections next year and the recent approval by the House of Representatives of resolution calling for a constituent assembly cannot be used to postpone polls."
    ~ Comelec chairman Jose Melo

"If the Constitutional amendments push thru, elections will be necessary to ratify the changes."
    ~ Rep Benhur Salimbangon

"The elections are inevitable. What more worries me is the failure of automation of the May 2010 elections." ~ Rep Pablo Garcia

"House resolution on Con-Ass specifies that the President and all public officials whose terms are supposed to end in 2010 must step down next year. ~ Rep Raul del Mar

"The provision for officials to step down is binding." ~ Rep Eduardo Gullas

    Or these ones?

"We expressed fears that the House resolution will lead to the cancellation of the election" ~ Akbayan

"While there is no firm assurance they will not allow postponing the elections or extending Arroyo's term." ~ Rep Antonio Cuenco

"With the approval of that resolution, there is a possibility there won't be elections next year." ~ Jacque dela Pena, Change Politics Movement

@giddiboy: yes, the article is provocative ... but then again forcing an issue, i.e. declaration of martial law, makes me think twice before entering into the bag of this writer's ideas ... i don't know much about the circumstances of martial law declaration in marcos' regime, but through research and readings, the situation then and now, are very much different. marcos used his authority and power to destroy the institutions: education, journalism, religious and the congress ... there was a growing fear among the middle class on financial stability, there was gas shortage, ballooning debt and restlessness among the academe and the students ... You and I today very much know that nothing of sort is our reality, at least not so much like then ... the media today is very much stronger and powerful and nothing that this administration is doing did not pass through the magnifying glass of the media .. generally the students are calm and still believe in the educational institutions, except for a few left leaning student orgs .. the middle class is growing and the congress just do everything to destroy each other, and criticize the government at the expense of growth and development and the passing of good bills for the people ... for sure, there are those who want to prolong the stay of PGMA, but i still think that it is not the seat of the president they are saving, it is their asses instead, they know very well that the voters now are getting younger and smarter, and cannot be bought by money ... the idea of another martial law is just as remote as the sun is to the earth ... now, to bring mancao here and face justice is not arroyo's doing .. why? the families of dacer and corbito and every right thinking citizen want justice .. and let the axe of justice fall on the heads of those who are guilty may it be a former head of PNP or a former President or a simple man on the straight .. it is about time that justice be served and the law should show its teeth .. let us not live in fear, but as free men and women and protect our freedom against anybody ... even those crooks who can pay journalists so as to project good image to all or sow confusion upon the reading masses. I doubt the purity of motive of the writer of the article sighted above.

di man pariha sa kang marcos, but she's too damn brainy for us all....

hmm..the wheels of her mind are turning in a very specially wicked way..

pariho ni marcos, naay nindot nga things na-happen sa ato country,
which, other people don't seem to credit at all..
but behind all these, it's like a war is emerging..

all out iyang support sa mga military..
nga nag-duwa duwa ra sa mindanao..
kahibaw ka noh? nga mag-sabot sabot ra nang milf, phil army ug npa..
mga sulong retreat.. all planned out..
