Mag wonder man sad ta. . . from D. Paredes, malaya newspaper

A full week into the scandal and Gloria has yet to say, "No, that’s not me talking to any Tom, Dick or Harry."

Or "Yes, that’s me talking with Garcillano and I’m really sorry for my abysmal lack of prudence, which is seen rightly by the people as criminal behavior, in calling up an election official at the height of the canvassing. In expiation, I hereby tender my resignation."

    FYI

    Communist Party of the Philippines

On the political crisis of the US-Arroyo regime

The disclosure of audio tapes pointing to Gloria Arroyo's direct culpability in electoral fraud during last year's polls has further intensified the political crisis besetting the Arroyo regime. These revelations come on top of ongoing high-profile investigations that are leading towards the exposure of the Arroyo family's direct involvement in the jueteng payola scandal. All these confirm what has long been common knowledge among the people.

Long before this, the Filipino people had already been utterly enraged by the Arroyo regime's oppressive and pro-imperialist economic measures which have resulted in a sharp decline in the Filipino people's socio-economic conditions in the past several months; its blind puppetry to the US government, zealous support for the US' wars of aggression and "anti-terror" dogma and escalating US military intervention; and its terrorism and fascist attacks against mass-based resistance.

The current political crisis is a reflection of the crisis of the entire ruling system. It proceeds from the reactionary state's growing isolation from the people whose hardships and suffering under the oppressive social system are daily worsened by state policies that deepen the country's semicolonial and semifeudal condition. It also stems from the increasingly irreconcilable conflicts among reactionary elite politicians which result in turn from the erosion of financial benefits from bureaucratic prerogatives, making it increasingly difficult to satisfy their greed.

The political crisis that is currently rocking the Arroyo regime is moreover part of the continuing crisis of the ruling system which led to the overthrow of the Estrada regime in 2001 and the Marcos dictatorship in 1986.

It is a crisis that is again fast coming to a head. The overthrow of the regime or Arroyo's removal from the presidency through mass demonstrations combined with processes defined by the reactionary constitution have become a distinct probability and may materialize in the next few rounds of political battles.

To placate the people's seething anger and preempt mass demonstrations, Arroyo has been chanting the mantra of "economic reform"--as if anything good could come out of her so-called economic program that comprises nothing more than a slew of taxes and promises to foreign creditors that her government would honor its debts. Aside from lulling the Filipino people to a stupor with her "economic reforms" mantra, Arroyo wields a big fascist stick to silence those who defy her. Every time her power is challenged, she shouts "destabilization" to justify the use of brute fascist force to suppress street demonstrations and the freedom of expression and initimidate the people from protesting and standing up against her regime. Arroyo has promptly mobilized the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to secure the Malacanang Palace and the national capital.

However, the deepening socio-economic crisis and recent revelations of Arroyo's corruption and electoral fraud prompt the people to unite and take action to press for Arroyo's resignation or ouster from Malacanang. Their demand for an end to the corrupt, puppet and fascist Arroyo regime intertwines with their long-standing clamor for immediate and significant socio-economic and political reforms. The intensifying call for Arroyo's ouster dovetails the people's long-standing demands for substantial wage increases, the repeal of the oil deregulation law, a rollback in the prices of oil products, basic commodities, electricity and water rates, a stop to servicing onerous foreign debts, an increase in social spending especially for health and education, a stop to corruption, and an end to political killings and militarization in the countryside, among other urgent demands.

Among these, the demand to put an end to the Arroyo regime is the key demand. The Arroyo regime's corruption, puppetry and fascism make all of the people's democratic demands impossible to achieve.

A broad range of forces, including mass-based organizations and elite politicians, are gravitating towards an anti-Arroyo united front. They can launch coordinated parallel political actions to effect Arroyo's resignation or ouster. They can set up a coordinating council that can unite along general principles of sovereignty, democracy and justice, work in a consensual and democratic manner and frame an agenda that will address the Filipino people's most urgent demands. In building this unified agenda that reflects the interests of the broad masses, they blunt the Arroyo regime's propaganda that contemptuously dismisses any resistance to its regime as part of the narrow selfish agenda of elite politicians in order to dissuade the people from carrying out mass demonstrations.

With or without the current political crisis, the armed revolutionary forces have been tasked by the central leadership of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) to carry forward people's war. They must launch more numerous armed tactical offensives against the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and all its armed organizations. The NPA should expand its areas of operation and strengthen revolutionary mass organizations.

In intensifying the armed struggle, the NPA helps weaken the Arroyo regime, take advantage of the growing disarray and factionalization in the AFP, disperse and draw away the reactionary armed forces from centers of mass action and inspire the people to advance their struggle against the corrupt, puppet and fascist regime.

The revolutionary movement can moreover take full advantage of the political crisis rocking the ruling reactionary system by propagating the program of the people's democratic revolution and the practical victories that the revolutionary movement has achieved over the past years. Only by carrying forward the people's democratic revolution can the Filipino people be finally liberated from the semicolonial and semifeudal social system that plunges them ever-deeper in crisis.

The political disarray of the ruling reactionary system opens opportunities for the revolutionary forces to advance in all aspects. The revolutionary forces must be able to expand its united front. The situation provides them the possibility of expanding severalfold the ranks of revolutionaries by intensifying efforts to organize and mobilize the masses.

For the Filipino people, the crisis besetting the Arroyo regime is a good thing. It opens the possibility of advancing their most urgent demands. More importantly, it provides the conditions for pushing forward the people's war closer to final victory. ###

Frankly, I'm not sold out to armed struggle, I just want GMA out kay gibinuangan ra jud ta.

She is insulting the ability of Filipinos to see clearly through her smokescreens and dirty tactics. We deserve a president who is honest to those whom she leads.

Kinsay mopuli sa iyaha? There are too many bright , talented and able Filipinos out there. But let's not pin our hopes on someone who does not even have the qualms to cheat the Filipino people of their right to choose. We are a nation of cheats kasi presidente cheat gihapon. If GMA is the only hope that you see, better jump ship quick.

Basta sa akoa, ok ra si Noli de Castro. Basta ayaw lang si GMA kay butbuton na kaayo. Maglisod na jud tuo ang tawo sa iyaha. Right now, she sounds and acts like Marcos (everything is under control, shuckssss) and Erap (no one is above the law not even my relatives sheyyyymmmm) , rolled into one.
