I recently asked a former colleague of mine about this - and said that this issue has been running for almost 10 years now (about male uniforms). I don't think that within the span of those years the studentry were not consulted?
I don't know if this is true - the male uniforms were supposed to be implemented around SY 2000, I really think this was a long running issue where the students have been consulted, time and again ... and not just a blink of an eye implementation.
I just can't believe that the SSC in their statement mentioned about values and virtues are much more important than uniforms - come'on the SSC should be better than that - Are they making those virtues and values as a lame excuse for not wearing uniforms?
USC isn't making you wear prada and guess for uniforms right? Those uniforms aren't constricting your freedom of movement and decency right?
And about the issue on long hairs - TC has that culture all right, but with a statement saying - "why fix if it ain't broke" - are we just going to deny improvement? And continue to be called "kuto-on" ug "way ligo"?
About freedom and fighting for the rights - you have the right to protest al'right, but you are protesting on the wrong grounds. Those Mitsumi workers in Danao has been wearing the same uniform for almost 20 years now - they too have the right to protest. Now tell me if imposing uniforms repressive? Did our soldiers protest they be clean shaven? There is dignity drawn from wearing that piece of cloth - like how we respect a nun wearing her uniform, a priest wearing his robe, a policeman wearing his badge, a company man wearing his company logo ... freedom has its limits - that is why we have rules and laws that protect us.
No the university did not curb freedom, you are free to change your uniform once u are out of the campus premises ... it is not also about fighting for your rights - the administration is administering house rules, regulations for you to follow - like how you have to remove your slippers when entering a mosque, a hard hat when entering a construction site, your lab coat when entering the laboratory ...
Its not about fighting for your rights - it's only the issue about obedience and being hard headed ...
ah... sir kolz... maybe from your department but based from my sources sa cafa, carsas, some engineering teachers, and etc... they were against the teachers wearing uniform... and about the consultation... before we enrolled before we have started our freshman year in san carlos, they should have told us right away that they have these policies newly implemented... but NO, wala jud... come to think of it, first year pami wala mi kibaw unsay nahitabo sa previous years, and they took full advantage of us, just like an innocent little fish devoured by a hungry non-lenient shark.
